SCORE!!!

Filed under: ramblings, confessions of a book whore

some of the books i’ve mooched finally started to arrive over the last two days.  i am so excited when i get home and i have these small packages of books.  hey, it doesn’t take much to please me folks.  anyway, i was nearly floored when i received my copy of alice walker’s in search of our mother’s gardens and it was SIGNED! emoticon

oh goodness me! i can’t say anymore, the tears are wellin’ up again.  gotta blow it out…

kids will say…

me: "zion, go sit down".

zion: stomps his foot, folds arms and grunts

the mr: "okay, for that, no more cars".

zion: head lowered, eyes narrowed–"we’ll just see about that".

me: stunned, lip quivering to hold in the laughter.  can’t…hold…it…in.  i look at the mr. and he too is flabbergasted.

me and the mr: laughing and shaking our heads

yeah, we let the four year old have that one as one of those too-funny-to-stay-upset moments.  but please believe, those are few and far between…

random saturday

i do love having my saturday’s off work.  i just wish i had the cooperation of a certain little brown boy to peruse the city more. there really are more and more neat, cultural things emerging in this once dreadful place.  of course, the mr. is working, which doesn’t help my cause.  anyway, my day will be filled with domestication (mostly laundry), schoolwork (me studying for midterm and zion practicing writing his name), and bookmooching(check my widget and post from a couple days ago).  I’m such an addict right now on this site.  umm, jennifer, have your husband register and come off some of those books. emoticon

sad note….and a good note

Filed under: ramblings, confessions of a book whore

first, the sad note:  why did i have to be eyewitness to the demise of a poor cat this morning en route to work???  it made me teary eyed to see that cat hit by a car and the person never even slowed down.  tsk tsk emoticon

now on to my good note:  i discovered BookMooch yesterday!  now i may be late to the party on this one, but i don’t care.  it’s so totally awesome.  you trade books for points that you use to "buy" other books.  the only expense is for shipping your books to whoever mooches from you.  i also came across another book swap site– paper back swap.  Of course there are others, but these seem to be the most popular.  there are even "power users" who use both of the above mentioned sites to maximize their swapping possibilities. so please note my widget, in the sidebar, of some of the books i want to give away.  if you go directly to the site, my userid is bibliophile7.

happy mooching…

breastfeeding does a body good

Filed under: Natural Living, Zion's Mom

while searching for an article to review for my next assignment, i came across this cute little site geared towards my fellow brownie mommies and mommies-to-be.  all of my sister-friends know that i am a HUGE advocate of breastfeeding.  i truly believe in its preventative and possible healing powers. it doesn’t hurt in shrinking that uterus back to normal, and fast, either.  i nursed my little brown boy for six months and pumped for about four more.  this site seems to be a great resource in simply educating browngirls on breastfeeding and from a historical stance.  i was so impressed that i’ve added it to my blogroll.  go on, i know you’re curious…

sorry i kinda fell off

i know those of you who actually give a damn are like…"ummm, where the hell is browngirl?".  i been around.  streesin’, as usual.  enjoying my class.  gettin’ A’s on all the assignments so far.emoticon

and then there was the dentist appointment last thursday…

ahhh yes, the hummming, the cool air, the sudden uproarious laughter, the dreamy state of mind….NITROUS OXIDE IS THE SHIZNIT!!!

i was seriously plotting on how to steal the tank to take it home and put that hose in a vent.  This was my first experience with laughing grass gas and it was so awesome.  i got another wisdom tooth pulled and thought i’d give it a shot.  and the cherry on top– i got some hydrocodone too!  i definitely see how folks can get addicted to these pain meds.  that’s why i stopped taking them as soon as i did.  my sister-friend says she had to flush her pain meds once because she felt the urge too strongly.  i told her there will be no flushing of the meds.  i’ll save them for after one of those long stressful weeks and check out on the husband and that little one.

man i could be such a junkie…
