Most of these educational sites have free printable worksheets, lesson plan ideas, games, etc.  This list is by no means exhaustive but are some of the currently active sites that I found quite useful.

Multi Subject

Family Education-- Printable worksheets and coloring pages

Brain Pop-- Brain Pop and Brain Pop Jr. are subscription sites featuring educational animated movies and interactive games and activities on virtually every subject and theme.

funschool-- Preschool online games and activities with section for parents and teachers

local school directory-- Large amount of lesson plans searchable by grade or subject (PK-12)

DLTK-- family of websites with free materials on a variety of subjects.  lots of biblical activities and crafts.

Primary Games--  free online games and printables for primary grade levels PreK-3 for language arts, math, science and social studies.

free world u - flashcard based curriculum for Pre K- 12 (also includes Pre-Medical through fourth yr. Med.)

Language Arts

Starfall-- Primarily for 1st grade, but useful for an advance, remedial or ELL student. This site has cute games and short animated movies that teach phonics and reading.  There's also an online store selling corresponding books and writing journals.

The School Bell-- Great printable Dolch word kit(sight words)

Phonograms-- this page is a free service of the Johnny Can Spell program.  This is great for auditory learners to have some independent time.  They just click on the phonogram and a pleasant voice pronounces the phonogram several times.

Carl's Corner-- retired teacher and language arts specialist, Cherry Carl's site.  full of free worksheets and other materials.  currently, we're using many of the worksheets available on word families.

candohelperpage.com-- for primary grades K-3 and everything's free here.  good site for kids who like using the computer as there are many activities available to actually do online and often the results can be printed.  there are also printable activities for good ole pencil and paper.

Sight Word Buddy for Windows-- free game download.  simple drills for pre-primer through third grade sight words.

spelling city - create your own spelling lists-that can be saved- and the site will teach and generate quizzes and games for you.

Scott Foresman Online Grammar and Writing Handbook -  these are pdf files of workbooks for grades 1-6 grammar and writing exercises.  these are printable and can be bound into an actual workbook.  the corresponding textbook is not necessary to use these.

Math

Science

Discovery Education-- lesson plans for K-12, science fair projects.  This is a multi subject site but is strongest in sciences.

Social Studies/History/ Geography

your child learns - includes "bridge to reading" program, printable maps of any size, map puzzles and online atlas.  very good site for geography.

Foreign Language

Arts/Crafts

Bible

kids bible info - extensive list on character building with scripture reference

Computer/ Technology

W3Schools-- fabulous, free tutorials on web building(i.e. HTML, JAVASCRIPT, XML, CSS, etc.). this would be great for self-instructed computer science curriculum.

Miscellaneous

Highlights Magazine--  This is a classic!  They now have a magazine for 2-6 yr. olds-- High Five Magazine.

Jan Brett-- Tons of freebies, especially flash cards

Hollywood Schoolhouse-- this is a good scope and sequence for Early Childhood thru Eighth grade.  It's very basic and to the point.  Looks like a good starting point for anyone not quite sure what they should be teaching.
